We have been doing a garden here at our house for the last 9 years. We have lived here for 10, we bought the house in July, so no garden that year. However, that year we had a garden at my parents house, which we mostly got pickles out of. The garden is mostly my husbands thing, he loves doing all things garden which is wonderful. We have gotten a lot of great things from our garden. Today I picked a large amount of Asparagus from our patch we started 8 years ago from seed (pictures to follow). We also have some starter plants started in the dining room which is serving as a green house at the moment. In those pots we have 8 Tomato plants, 2 cabbage plants (our 1st time trying), and 2 eggplants. We also have several green pepper plants which you will see in a little 12 spot green house. My husband also has garlic planted in garden which is starting to show some growth. He planted it last October. The garlic is one of our favorite things, we still have some left over from our crop from last year. It is so wonderful to have things that you have grown and canned to eat, they are so delicious much better than store bought. The tomatoes are the best from the garden, you will never have another store bought tomato after having one you have grown yourself, so flavorful. I almost forgot today my Dad brought over a small trailer of manure to help with the gardens, it is cow manure with straw mixed in from the bedding.
